An 8-module mental health program for women 35–58 navigating the anxiety, mood shifts, brain fog, rage, grief, and identity questions of perimenopause and menopause. Clinician-built, research-grounded, and radically honest about what most healthcare gets wrong about this chapter.

If you came from Oova

Oova gives you the clearest hormone picture in fertility tech — but the months of waiting, the negative pregnancy tests, the IVF prep, and the slow drift toward perimenopause carry a weight no assay can measure. Mamaya is the mental-health layer your Oova journey deserves: fertility-loss-trained therapists, TTC-fluent coaches, and clinician-built programs designed for the specific seasons your data lives in. Covered by insurance where possible, ready to schedule today.

Is this season familiar?

You’ve probably been told this is just stress.

  1. 01

You used to handle your life with ease. Now small things leave you flattened.

  2. 02

Your sleep is different. You wake at 3 a.m. and can’t find your way back.

  3. 03

You’re snapping at the people you love most — and you don’t know why.

  4. 04

Words you know aren’t there when you reach for them.

  5. 05

You feel a grief you can’t name, about a self you’re losing track of.

  6. 06

Your anxiety doesn’t map onto anything that’s actually happening.

  7. 07

Your doctor ran labs, said they were “normal,” and offered you an antidepressant.

  8. 08

You’ve started to wonder if this is just who you are now.

None of this is in your head. All of it is in your endocrine system, your nervous system, and the way our healthcare doesn’t know how to see women over 35.

80%

of women experience perimenopause symptoms that disrupt daily life — yet most aren’t diagnosed or treated for years.

7 years

is the average diagnostic delay for perimenopause in the United States. Seven years of being told it's stress, anxiety, or aging.

1 in 4

women report mental health symptoms severe enough to affect their work, relationships, or sense of self during this transition.

What you’ll learn

Built on the research your doctor didn’t learn.

STRAW+10 staging.

The international standard for mapping where you are in the reproductive transition — from early perimenopause through post-menopause. We teach you to read your own timeline, not guess at it.

The estrogen–serotonin axis.

Why your anxiety, depression, and rage aren’t personality flaws. The biology of how falling estrogen destabilizes the same neurotransmitter systems SSRIs target — and what that means for your mental health care.

Reproductive endocrinology, integrated.

Sleep, cognition, mood, libido, body composition — all of these are downstream of the hormonal shifts we’ll trace together, so you can advocate for the right care.

Grief work, on purpose.

Perimenopause is the second biggest identity shift after matrescence. We name what’s being lost — and what’s becoming possible — with the rigor grief actually deserves.

The module journey

Eight weeks. Eight modules. Yours forever.

  1. Module 01

    What Is Happening to Me?

The biology of perimenopause — STRAW+10 staging, hormone fluctuations, and why your body feels like it belongs to someone else. Tools to read your own timeline and know where you are in the transition.

  2. Module 02

    The Anxiety and Mood Spiral

Why anxiety and depression often peak in perimenopause — the estrogen–serotonin connection, mood vulnerability windows, and how to distinguish hormonal mood shifts from clinical mood disorders. When to seek care, and what kind.

  3. Module 03

Sleep, Brain Fog & Cognitive Changes

Why you can't find the word, why 3 a.m. is your new normal, and how to get both back. The sleep-cognition loop, night sweats, and evidence-based tools for restoring rest — plus honest conversation about what's temporary vs what's not.

  4. Module 04

    Body Image, Aging & Identity

The physical changes no one warned you about — weight redistribution, skin, hair, libido — and how to reckon with them without shame. Self-compassion work, cultural script interrogation, and reclaiming a body that's still yours.

  5. Module 05

    Relationships, Libido & Intimacy

The intimacy renegotiation this chapter demands. Communication frameworks for partners, honest language for shifting desire, medical options worth knowing about, and how to keep connection intact when the terrain changes.

  6. Module 06

Rage, Grief & the Midlife Reckoning

The rage that surprised you. The grief you didn't expect. Why this is the second biggest identity shift after matrescence — and the psychological work of letting go and letting become.

  7. Module 07

Advocating for Yourself in the System

How to walk into a doctor's office with an agenda, communicate your symptoms clearly, evaluate HRT information, and build a care team that takes you seriously. Includes a self-advocacy script and a provider-conversation worksheet.

  8. Module 08

    Designing Your Next Chapter

What becomes possible on the other side. Career, relationships, purpose, embodiment. Integration work and a 90-day plan to move forward with clarity instead of grief.

That’s the whole map. You can start today.

All eight modules unlock the moment you enroll — work at whatever pace this season of your life allows.

The goal of this program
“To walk out of perimenopause knowing more about your body, your mind, and your options — not less.”

Most women finish this transition with a diagnosis they don’t trust, a prescription they didn’t ask for, and a self they don’t recognize. The Shift is built to change that.

Everything included

The full toolkit. Nothing upsold later.

01

8 clinician-taught video modules

Short, paced for a peri-menopausal attention span (15–20 minutes). Video and audio-only formats — do them on a walk if that's when your brain works.

02

STRAW+10 staging + symptom tracker

A structured tool to track where you are and what's shifting, usable in your next doctor's appointment.

03

Guided audio meditations

8–12 minute somatic and mindfulness practices designed specifically for the perimenopausal nervous system.

04

Self-advocacy scripts

Language and communication tools to help you describe your symptoms and advocate for yourself at medical appointments. Walk in informed, not apologetic.

This is for you if
  • ✓You're between 35 and 58 and your body and mind feel different than they used to.
  • ✓You want to understand what's happening to you — not just be handed a prescription.

  • ✓You want clinical rigor without clinical jargon.

This isn’t for you if
  • —You're in an acute mental health crisis — one-on-one care is the right starting point, not a self-paced program.
  • —You're looking for prescription-based hormone therapy. That's medicine we don't dispense; this program teaches you how to advocate for it.
  • —You want a wellness program. This is clinical psychoeducation.
  • —You want a quick fix. Eight weeks of honest work is what's here.
Built by clinicians

Not a wellness program.
A clinical one.

The Shift was developed by Mamaya Health’s clinical team — licensed therapists, perinatal mental health specialists (PMH-C), and reproductive-endocrine-aware providers who spend their days with women in this exact transition. Every module is grounded in peer-reviewed research on perimenopausal mood disorders, sleep disruption, cognitive change, and identity reconstruction.

This isn’t a substitute for therapy or medical care. If you’re in crisis or need a licensed clinician, we can match you one-on-one — start intake here.

OovaOur hormone-testing partner

The Shift starts from what you’re feeling. Oova starts from what your hormones are actually doing — an at-home test that tracks the whole cycle instead of one blood draw on one day. The program is written to be read alongside that kind of data, and Oova members get our peer support groups at no cost.

Questions, answered

Honest answers before you enroll.

Could this be perimenopause if my labs came back normal?
Yes. Perimenopause is generally identified from age, cycle history and symptoms rather than from a single hormone panel. Levels fluctuate substantially during the transition, so one blood draw can look unremarkable on a day you feel terrible.
Does perimenopause affect anxiety and mood?
Mood changes are a recognised part of the menopause transition. Women describe anxiety that suddenly feels louder, irritability out of proportion to the situation, waking at three in the morning already anxious, brain fog, and a general sense of not feeling like themselves. Sleep disruption tends to amplify all of it.
Should I see a doctor or a therapist?
Usually both, and not in a particular order. A gynaecologist, primary care clinician or menopause specialist can assess the physical picture and rule out other causes — thyroid problems, anaemia, sleep disorders and medication effects all overlap. A therapist who understands midlife can work on the anxiety, the sleep and the identity change regardless of how much of it is hormonal.
What do I say when I book the appointment?
Something like: I'm in my forties, I don't feel like myself, and my labs came back normal. I'd like to be evaluated for perimenopause as well as other medical and mental health causes, and I want to talk about treatment. Ask whether the clinician has experience treating perimenopause, rather than asking for more hormone testing.
Where can I get perimenopause mental health support in Nashville?
Mamaya's Shift programme, therapy and psychiatric medication management, in person in Nashville and Murfreesboro and by telehealth across Tennessee, Texas and Florida. Vanderbilt's menopause clinic provides medical management. Several Nashville practices specialise in women's reproductive mental health.

Not sure a self-paced program is the right format for you right now?

If you’re in active crisis, or if what you need is one-on-one care with a clinician who specializes in perimenopausal mental health, start there.
