About

“Trauma is the result of an overwhelming sense of danger, powerlessness, and fear. Healing is a result of feeling safe, empowered, and supported.” – Emmy Marie I’m Alyson Whitworth, LCSW, and I believe in the power of safe, supportive relationships to foster real healing. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and valued—exactly as you are, without judgment. Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and empowering. I focus on building strong relationships, honoring your strengths, and helping you rewrite the narratives that no longer serve you. With a background in foster care and over eight years of experience, I bring a trauma-informed lens to my work with children, teens, and adults. I specialize in anxiety, depression, complex trauma, ADHD, mood disorders, shame, intrusive thoughts, attachment issues, grief, and more. Whether we’re working through family dynamics, self-esteem struggles, or emotional regulation, I meet you where you are—with empathy, advocacy, and practical tools for growth. I hold a BSW from the University of Tennessee at Martin and an MSW from Southern Adventist University. I’m trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and I believe that humor, human connection, and honesty are essential parts of the healing process. Outside of work, I love dancing with my daughter, laughing with my husband, and spending time outdoors. As a highly sensitive person who lives with anxiety and depression, I know the value of feeling understood—and I’m here to walk beside you as you heal and grow.
